January Jewelry Making Classes - AC Moore Dover/Rockaway

Classes are resuming again at AC Moore in Dover/Rockaway. The store hours have changed so classes will now be held from 6:15pm - 8:45pm on Wednesdays.

Following is the schedule for January. I'm working on the schedule for February so If you have any suggestions please let me know (e-mail me or leave a comment). If there's enough interest I may try to hold some classes on the weekends.

January 2 – Beading Basics (Beginner)
Love beads but aren’t sure how to get started? This is the class for you. This very useful beginner’s class has lots of information that you will use throughout your jewelry making years. We'll work on layout and design basics, stringing, finishing, and how to use tools. Students will be able to go home with a completed bracelet or necklace. This class is suitable for children 12 and older and adults.
(Limit 8 students)
Supplies: Assortment of beads, stringing material (ex. Beadalon), findings (clasp, crimps), a basic beading/jewelry making kit is also recommended
Cost: $20 + supplies

January 9 – Beaded Earrings (Beginner/Intermediate)
You’ll never believe how easy it is to make that fabulous pair of earrings you see in the department store. Learn the ease of earring making and create 2 or more pair of earrings to take home and wear. Beginning students will learn how to make simple drop earrings, ear threads or hoop earrings. More advanced students will learn to make chandelier earrings.
(Limit 8 students)
Supplies: Assortment of beads, headpins/eye pins, earring findings
Cost: $20 + supplies

January 16 – Spiral Stitch (Beginner/Intermediate)
The spiral stitch is one of the most versatile stitches. There are so many variations that you can make it look different every time! More advanced students will learn how to include embellishments. Project will be started in class but might not be completed. THIS IS A STITCH CLASS USING NEEDLE AND THREAD.
(Limit 8 students)
Supplies: Two contrasting colors of E beads or seed beads, Nymo (or similar) beading thread or braided fishing line, beading needle, clasp, jump/split rings.
Cost: $20 + supplies

January 23 – Illusion Necklace (Beginner)
Use monofilament or beading wire and crimp beads to make a necklace that gives the illusion that the beads are floating.
(Limit 8 students)
Supplies: Assortment of beads, monofilament or beading wire, crimps, clasp
Cost: $20 + supplies

January 30 – Jewelry Making Free Style/Bead Social (Intermediate)
Don’t bead alone! This is a working class for beaders who may have questions or need a quick refresher in any area of beading. There will be no specific instruction but lots of one-on-one time with students. A great class to get motivated to finish your UFOs (UnFinished Objects), get back into beading, start a new project, or for social beading. Also, a chance to meet new friends and see old ones. Please bring along some of your finished projects to show the class.
(Limit 10 students)
Supplies: Beads, stringing material and findings
Cost: $15 + supplies
STUDENTS ENROLLED IN THIS CLASS MUST HAVE TAKEN A PREVIOUS CLASS WITH THIS TEACHER.

Classes are 2 ½ hours long (6:15pm – 8:45pm) and MUST be signed up for in advance. Please be prompt so that we can get as much work done in class as possible. Supplies may be purchased in advance or the day of class. If purchasing supplies the day of class please plan to arrive at least 15 minutes early. The instructor will be available to go through the beading aisles in the store to help pick out supplies. Tools and bead boards are provided for use during class or you may bring your own. Students must be able to perform close detail work – don’t forget your glasses and/or magnifying glass!

PLEASE NOTE: Jewelry samples on display are for example only and do not necessarily represent the project created in class. Students are encouraged to bring in pictures of projects they’d like to make.

Hope to see you soon!

Happy beading!

Julie :-)
