Class Suggestions?

Hi Everyone,

I have to get my October class schedule together.

Is there something you'd like to learn that hasn't been covered in a class yet? Or maybe there was a class you wanted to take but you couldn't make it the night it was held. Did you see something in a magazine, ad or catalogue and wondered if you could make it?

Send me an email and let me know. I'll try to accommodate you.

Happy beading!

Bead Swap Anyone?

Is anyone interested in a bead swap? I thought we could hold these during our monthly Bead Social/UFO Nights.

I have a lot of leftover beads and beads that I bought with good intentions of using but just haven't. I'd like these beads to go to a new home where they'll be appreciated and used.

For those of you who are interested, please bring along a small bag of beads to class. We'll discuss swap rules tonight.

UFOs Are Taking Over!

This month I've become over run with UFOs. I start a project and before I finish it I've started something new. Is this happening to you? I'm not sure if it's an attention thing or the fact that there are SO many projects running through my head. LOL

Tonight is the PERFECT night to gather up those partially completed projects and spend a few hours working on them.

Here's the description for tonight's class:

Bead Social/UFO Night (All Levels)
Have UFOs landed at YOUR house??? Gather them up/dust them off and bring them to the monthly Bead Social. Don't bead alone! This is a working class for beaders who may have questions or need a quick refresher in any area of beading. There will be no specific instruction but lots of one-on-one time with students. A great class to get motivated to finish your UFOs (UnFinished Objects), get back into beading, start a new project, or for social beading. Also, a chance to meet new friends and see old ones. Please bring along some of your finished projects to show the class.

You'll hear some of my beading/jewelry making tips that I've learned over the years too.

Hope to see you!

Peyote Stitch Class Part 2 - July 23rd

Ooops! I forgot to post about tonight's class.

This week I'll be showing you several techniques to embellish your plain peyote stitch bracelet.

I'll give you some basic techniques but as you'll see, the sky's the limit!

Make sure to have your basic bracelet completed before class. I'll show you several clasp options and then we'll get into embellishment.

You'll need small, medium and large beads to compliment or accent your basic bracelet.

Hope to see you tonight!

Peyote Stitch Classes

I'm really looking forward to teaching class the next 2 weeks.

Peyote stitch was something I wanted to learn for a long time but for some reason I just wasn't getting it. After several attempts (and failures) I received an AWESOME tip from somone. (Sorry - I'm not going to tell you here. You'll have to come to class!) That tip made all the difference in the world. Peyote stitch is now one of my favorite stitches.

If you come to class this week you'll see what I mean. With so many different colors and sizes of beads the possibilities for creating beautiful jewelry pieces are only limited by your imagination.

In this week's class you'll learn even count peyote stitch to create a basic bracelet. During next week's class you will learn how to add the clasp and several embellishment techniques to make your bracelet truly unique.

You do not need to take both classes. Some students already know peyote stitch and some students only want to learn how to do peyote stitch.

If you are planning to take this class please send me an email so that I know how many students to prepare for.

Please feel free to email any questions or pictures of your bead creations.

Hope to see you soon. Happy beading!

Embellished Peyote Stitch Bracelet (Part 1) - July 16

This is a beginner/intermediate class.

Peyote stitch is probably the most popular beading stitch - but not always the easiest to learn! Through trial and error I've come up with a method I think everyone will be able to get the hang of. This class will cover basic even count peyote stitch. Students will make a basic peyote strip to be used as the bracelet base during Part 1 of this class and add the clasp and embellishment in the next class. Some work at home between classes may be required. THIS IS A STITCH CLASS USING NEEDLE AND THREAD. ~~ YOU DO NOT HAVE TO TAKE BOTH PARTS OF CLASS.
(Limit 8 students)

Supplies: Size 6 or 8 seed beads (for bracelet base), assorted beads/embellishments (to be used in Part 2 of the class), beading thread or braided fishing line, Thread Heaven or similar thread conditioner, beading needles, 3-hole bar clasp (or similar), bead mat
Cost: $20 + supplies

If you plan to attend this class please e-mail me so that I know you're coming. AC Moore is enforcing the minimum 2 student rule so if there aren't at least 2 students signed up 48 hours in advance the class will be cancelled.

All Fixed (I hope!!!)

Cablevision/Optimum was here for several hours yesterday rewiring my house. It's so nice to turn on my computer and have immediate internet access. I have a working phone now too!

If any of you have e-mailed or called and you haven't heard back from me I apologize. I have only had sporadic internet and phone access for the past month. Things should be much better from now on.

Back to my messages...

Happy beading!

Bead Swap?

Hi Everyone,

Just wondering if you'd be interested in a bead swap. I know lots of us have beads we haven't used in a while or will never use. I was thinking of having them during the Bead Social/UFO nights. Each participant will bring a small ziploc bag containing at least 10 usable beads. I'll gather them up and then we'll draw numbers to see who gets what.

Let me know what you think.
