Beading/Jewelry Making Classes Open House/Bead Social/UFO Night - Wednesday, January 27, 5:30-7:45pm

This Wednesday will be a combined Beading/Jewelry Making Classes Open House/Bead Social/UFO Night from 5:30pm-7:45pm at A.C. Moore in Dover/Rockaway, NJ. ALL current/potential beaders/jewelry makers are invited to attend. There is NO CHARGE to attend.

Stop by to meet the teacher and see samples of upcoming projects.

Have UFOs landed at YOUR house??? Gather them up/dust them off and bring them to the monthly "Bead Social/UFO Night".

Don't bead alone - come join the fun and bead yourself happy. As one student says "It's cheaper than therapy!" Sometimes we even have baked goodies. How can you pass that up?

This is a working class for beaders who may have questions or need a quick refresher in any area of beading. There will be no specific instruction but lots of one-on-one time with students. A great class to get motivated to finish your UFOs (UnFinished Objects) or WIPs (Work In Progress), get back into beading, start a new project, or for social beading. Also, a chance to meet new friends and see old ones. Please bring along some of your finished projects to show the class.

Supplies: beads, stringing material and findings, a bead board or bead mat is also recommended

Stretch Bracelet Class - Wednesday, January 20, 5:30pm-7:45pm

I've been busy reorganizing my studio so I'm a little late getting this posted.

Beading/Jewelry making classes are now held from 5:30pm to 7:45pm due to a change in store hours.

This week's class is Stretch Bracelets.

Stretch bracelets are everywhere! It's easy to make your own if you just know the basics. Learn which cording to use and proper finishing techniques. Students should be able to leave with several finished bracelets. This class is suitable for children 12 and older and adults.

Supply List:

• assortment of beads and spacers
• stretch cord (i.e. Stretch Magic)
• crimp tubes (optional)

Tools:

• scissors
• crimping tool (optional)
• bead board and/or bead mat (recommended but not necessary)

Cost: $20 + supplies

Don't forget to pick up your supply list when you sign up so that you can receive 10% off of your supplies for class.

Please try to be prompt (I know traffic is awful at this time of day) so that we can get as much work done in class as possible. Supplies may be purchased in advance or the day of class. If purchasing supplies the day of class please plan to arrive at least 15 minutes early. I'll be available to go through the beading aisles in the store to help pick out supplies. Tools and bead boards are provided for use during class but feel free to bring your own. Students must be able to perform close detail work – don’t forget your glasses and/or magnifying glass!

PLEASE NOTE: AT LEAST 2 PEOPLE MUST BE SIGNED UP FOR CLASS 24 HOURS IN ADVANCE OR THE CLASS WILL BE CANCELLED. IF YOU CAN'T MAKE IT TO THE STORE TO SIGN UP YOU MAY NOTIFY ME THAT YOU WILL BE ATTENDING.

January 13 - Introduction to Wire Wrapping Class - CANCELED

I checked with A.C. Moore and no one signed up with them and no one notified me they were going to attend this class so it has been canceled.

Please make sure to sign up at A.C. Moore or notify me at least 24 hours in advance of the scheduled class.

Next week's class is "Stretch Bracelets". Learn the CORRECT way to create and finish these bracelets.

A.C. Moore - Change to Store Hours

When I went in to teach class this past Wednesday, I was informed that the store hours had changed earlier in the week.

The new store hours are as follows:

Sunday          10:00am - 6:00pm
Monday           9:00am - 8:00pm
Tuesday          9:00am - 8:00pm
Wednesday      9:00am - 8:00pm
Thursday         9:00am - 8:00pm
Friday             9:00am - 9:00pm
Saturday         9:00am - 9:00pm

Since classes can no longer run to 8:15pm with everyone out of the classroom by 8:30pm I'd like to try to start classes earlier. Is 5:30pm too early for you to get to the store? That way we'd still be able to have a 2 1/4 hour class.

Beginner Beading Class - Wednesday, January 6, 6-8:15pm @ A.C. Moore Dover/Rockaway

Love beads but aren’t sure how to get started making your own jewelry? This is the class for you. This very useful beginner’s class has lots of information that you will use throughout your jewelry making years. We'll work on layout and design basics, stringing, finishing, and how to use tools. Students will be able to go home with a completed bracelet and/or necklace. This class is suitable for children 12 and older and adults.

Supply List:

• assortment beads
• stringing material (ex. Beadalon)
• findings (clasp, crimps)
• basic beading/jewelry making kit (recommended)

Tools:

• crimping pliers
• wire cutters
• bead board and/or bead mat (recommended but not necessary)

Wear It Again in 2010!

This year's beading/jewelry theme is "Wear It Again in 2010".

If you're like me, you've got some great jewelry from YEARS ago in your jewelry box. You don't want to part with it but it you can't really wear it because it's no longer "in style". Bring in that broken necklace, lone earring or whatever and learn stringing, wire work and stitch techniques that will help you make it into something new.

Since these pieces will be hand made, you get the satisfaction of knowing each piece is one of a kind. Not only do you go home with a new piece, or pieces, of jewelry after class, you'll also make some new friends.

Classes are every Wednesday night and occasional Saturdays at A.C. Moore in Dover/Rockaway, New Jersey.

Happy New Year - A Little Late...

I hope you all had a wonderful time over the holidays. We had a lot of out of town visitors this year.

My niece is now 5 and she LOVES beads!!! We didn't make anything this visit. She just looked at all my beads and helped me sort some of them. Next time we'll make some jewelry together. It's too cold in my studio to work right now so I haven't been very beady.

Classes start up again at AC Moore on Wednesday. Hope to see you soon!
